Child #8, Albert Franklin Hulet
Albert was born September 5, 1895, in Summit, Utah. While he was very young his family moved to Alta, Wyoming, and stayed with Aunt Ann Pratt in a log house. About a year later they moved to a two-room log house, covered on the inside with factory and papered with copies of the "Deseret Semi Weekly News" to help keep out the drafts. The ceiling was low and badly spotted and stained where the rains of melted snow had leaked through the dirt roof.
Because of the rigors of winter and the distance to school and Church they were unable to attend much, but they did receive the fundamentals of education, and they never lacked for spiritual training. When Albert was nine years old he contracted typhoid fever and was in bed for six weeks. Only through faith and the power of the priesthood was his life spared.
Most of his boyhood was spent helping his father with the sheep in the mountains. In 1918 he was inducted into the Army, just at the close of World War I. On July 26, 1920, he married Vida Hill in Sugar City, Idaho. They were sealed later that same year, on December 20, in the Logan Temple. They lived first in Twin Falls, Idaho, then returned to Driggs, and later, Victor, Idaho, where he worked as a mail carrier. He retired from the mail service in 1962.
The year following his retirement he and Vida were called to serve as officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple, where they served for a little over a year, and then were called to serve as missionaries in the Southern States Mission in 1963. Following their release, they were again called to work in the temple.
Albert was active in the American Legion, held many Church positions, including stake mission president, and counselor in ward bishoprics. Albert passed away December 30, 1977, in Boise, Idaho, after suffering with cancer.
