July 22, 1918
Worked in the garden 2 hrs. Nailed up 8 hives, 20 frames. Charlsote wired them, and Charotte and I with the bees 1 hr. when a sudden flash of lightening killed her at 4 p.m. It knocked me down. I was unconscious for about 1 min. I think, but when I got so I could move, I turned my attention to her, but only in time to see her eyes twitch a little and it was over. She was dead.
Delaun suffered some damage to his left leg from the lightening, and limped the rest of his life.
Charlotte's funeral was July 27, speakers were Leroy Young,Edwaon Cutler, and Bro Dinwoody from Idaho Falls.
