Francis M "Frank" Alder, former Juvenile Court judge and longtime clerk of the Fourth District court, died this morning of a heart attack in the Utah Valley Hospital.
Mr Alder attended the LDS Business College and became court reporter for the Seventh District Court in southern Utah, a post he held until his family moved to Prove in 1929 where he continued as official court reporter in the fourth District Court here.
While working as a court reporter he studied law and graduated from the LaSalle Extension University course. In 1931 he passed the state examinations and was admitted to practice before the Utah State Bar.
He later served as judge of the Juvenile Court with headquarters in Provo.
After his retirement as juvenile judge he entered private law practice.
Active in the LDS Church, he was a teacher and in the superintendency of the Provo Fifth Ward Sunday School. He later moved into Utah Stake where he served as president of the Seven Presidents of Seventy, stake missonary and member of the stake MIA board. He was also president of the Utah Stake Home Mission.
