Macedonia was originally Perkins settlement. When much of the town was converted by Joel Hills Johnson and others, in 1839, it was organized as Crooked Creek Branch. A year later, Ramus stake was organized with Joel as president, and the town of Ramus was laid out. In 1843 the town was incorporated by the Illinois legislature and given the name of Macedonia. It is now called Webster.
