  Diantha Messick was born on April 2, 1923 in Shelley, Idaho to Leonard Delaun and Diantha Esplin Cox. She married Ray Eugene Messick on September 24, 1946 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they had 5 boys and 1 girl. Tragically, Ray passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving Day 1975 which was his 13 year old son's birthday. Diantha raised her last 2 sons by herself, and did so with great courage and wisdom.
  
  Diantha taught high school and junior high for 32 years in the Shelley Idaho School District. She taught typing, P.E., shorthand and English and then went back to school and received her library science degree. She was very proud of the library she created in Shelley.
  
  After retiring, she served an LDS mission to Dallas, Texas and another in the Genealogical Center in Salt Lake City. She loved her family and was devoted to her faith.
  
  She lived the last 7 years of her life with her daughter Juleen in Orem, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband Ray; two sons Veldon E. Messick and Cleston Ray Messick (Who died early March); grandson Shane Messick; and great-grandson Daniel Messick. She is survived by her children: Noal C. and Valerie Messick of Shelley, Idaho; Delaun T. and Polly Messick of Kemmerer, Wyoming; Owen K. and Athena Messick of Shanghai, China; Juleen and Dean Durrant of Orem, Utah; 29 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Diantha will be buried in Shelley, Idaho next to her beloved Ray.
