She went to grade and high school in St Johns. Later she went away to college in Flagstaff, Ariz. and in Los Angeles, California.
She married Joseph Albert Brown, in 1918. They had eight children, four girls and then four boys. Quinn passed away when he was eleven months old with scarlet fever. All of the children have been married in the Temple and all have families. They have 32 grandchildren as of 1964. Elda's husband passed away in 1961.
Elda has held many church positions. She was secretary in religion class when she was twelve years old, and has been a teacher in Primary, Sunday school, MIA, and Relief Society. She was Ward MIA Pres. and was Stake MIA Pres. for six years.
She has had many faith promoting stories and experiences in her life and thinks prayer is one of our greatest blessings. Her prayers have been answered many times.
She has always liked to work. She helped her parents keep bees for many, many years. She has worked in stores a good part of her life, and managed two stores she and her husband owned. She taught school for nineteen years in Arizona, in St Johns, Concho, Hunt, Nutrioso, and Vernon.
She learned from her father how to raise a good garden and she always enjoys watching things grow.
She was always called her fathers "Pet" as she followed him and went with him every place she was allowed to, from the time she was a little girl.
She and her husband had many wonderful trips and they usually took their children with them.
Elda is now serving a mission in Florida.
