Sarah Eleanor Cox Peacock

A Blessing

Blessing given in Emery, Utah, 2 March 1922, by Abinahiah Olsen, Patriarch, upon the head of Sarah Eleanor Cox Peacock, daughter of Fredrick Walter Cox and Jemima Losee Cox. Born 30 Nov. 1859, Manti, Utah.

Beloved of the Lord, Sister Sarah Peacock, I administer unto you this holy order in authority of an evangelist, sealed upon me by prophets and apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. I confer upon thee a patriarchal blessing as seemeth the Lord good. Thou didst come to this planet because of thy merit. Before leaving the pearly gates in thy first primeval childhood, the great Sire of thy noble spirit placed His hands upon thy head and gave unto thee a father's blessing; unfolded unto thee thy earthly mission to which you agreed. Blessed art thou, woman, because of thy beautiful birth, born of goodly parents in Celestial law, by the spirit in the new and everlasting covenant. Thou art a choice, select daughter, as you were born in answer to prayer. A blessing to thy noble sire and a pearl of great price to thy mother, so full of sacrifice, who conceived thee in sorrow and brought thee to the world by much travail. The angels of heaven shouted for joy when you breathed the breath of life, because of thy beautiful mission among the children of men. The Lord is pleased with thee, venerable mother, because of thy faith, thy hope, thy integrity. Thou hast retained thy loveliness, because of thy purity. Though thy cross be irksome to thee, it shall be a crutch. The Lord hath sustained thee, is watching over thee and thine. It is true thou art not a stranger to sorrow. Howbeit, thou shalt exchange thine earthly burdens for a Celestial crown of glory. There is preparing for thee and thine household, a mansion. The spirit of the Lord be upon thee. Thy vision shall be clarified yet a little while. Thou shalt know as thou art known. There are those who are praying for thee at the gates of heaven. Their homage is not in vain. It pleaseth the Lord, O, daughter of Zion, to comfort thee that you may finish, with honor, thy divine and beautiful mission so well begun.

Behold thy wealth of offspring; thy sons and daughters, thy children's children. They shall rise up and bless thee even down to the third and fourth generation and perpetuate thy name and sweet memory here and hereafter. They shall rise to positions of trust in church, in state, and become conspicuous among the children of men. They were choice, select, to come forth in this most desirable of all dispensations,to engage in the glory of our nation to prepare the children of men before the second advent of the Son of Man which is near, as thou art living in the Saturday night of the glad millennial morning. Great shall be the accomplishment of thy household in the building of temples and gathering of genealogy, in redeeming thy kindred dead and kindred friends. As thy sons and daughters shall volunteer to do a vicarious work for many, many souls, whose hopes are faint, whose spirits are crushed. They have no kindred in the fold of Christ to deliver them. Aye, thy sons and daughters shall bring joy to the captive. Their names shall be written among those who shall bring into the kingdom of Christ many precious souls.

Thy name, Sister Sarah, is carved in ivory and gold in the Lamb's book of life because of thy faithfulness. Thy works are divine. Thou hast been true to all thy promises before God, angels and men. To know thee is to love thee. Thy lineage is royal. Like a river of gold it is traceable down through the chain of the prophets Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob even to Joseph who dictated all Egypt; from Joseph to Ephraim, his illustrious son, of whom thou art a worthy descendent. He will appoint thee thy beautiful portion among the noble fore–sires and fore–mothers. I commend thee unto God's keeping. Dedicate thy life and service, thy substance, thy household unto Him. He will deal kindly with thee and thine. It pleaseth the Lord, Sister Peacock, that you frequent His Holy Temple, that you may live in a newness of life, that you may be refreshed. It shall be unto thee a heaven on earth. The Lord hast seen the faithfulness of thee and thine. It is awarded unto thee and thine for righteousness. Howbeit, thou shalt yet find joy and sweet peace in the redemption of souls.

It shall be unto thee a beautiful, sublime ending of thy mortal walk, to give unto the Lord the evening and twilight moments of thy life. Unto thee, Oh daughter of Zion, there is no death. It shall be as the fleeting from one mansion to another. Bright angels will escort thee to the Father who gave thee life; thence in the spirit world thou shalt be escorted, there join thy loved ones who have gone before thee, enjoy their sweet companionship until thy mission shall be concluded in spirit land. Thou shalt rise on the early morning of the first resurrection when the Savior shall bid thee stand a living soul, dressed in robes of righteousness, whiter than a snowdrift, purer than the lilies of the field. Thou shalt pass by the angels at the beautiful gate, be escorted by the Lord into the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, there be crowned a celestial wife and mother unto thy household, a priestess unto the Lord, to live where God and Christ are. Eternal increase be thy portion. Worlds without end thou shalt go no more out. Oh, be faithful, Sister Sarah, be hopeful, patient, even so, in Jesus name I speak and plead for thee. Amen
